8 Days to Halloween In Utah - Halloween Cruise Provo Utah

Halloween Cruise

Jack-o-lantern
October 3-31,  2011

Come enjoy an adventure riverboat ride on the lower Provo River!  You'll see over 100 hand carved jack-o-lanterns reflecting off the water, hear the boat captain tell a scary story, and enjoy some scary songs.  A pirate even attacks the boat!  We have two professional excursion boats that can accommodate 40 people each.

The ride is a round-trip experience that takes approximately 25 minutes, with departures every 15-30 minutes

No need to make a reservation unless you have a group of 20 or more!

Boarding Location:   CLAS Ropes Course
3606 W. Center, Provo
Price:   $8 per person (2 yrs and younger are free)
Reserve the whole boat:
    Mon, Fri & Sat - $195
    Tue, Wed & Thru - $175
Hours:   Mon. - Thurs..... 6:30-9:00pm
Fri. and Sat........ 6:30-10:00pm
Closed Sundays
Information:   (801) 373-1897

The Halloween Cruise boarding area is located at 3606 W. Center Street in Provo. (See note at bottom of post.) You can go as a family or small group, or you can rent out the entire boat and take youth groups, company groups, neighbor groups, friends……..whoever you want; the more the merrier, and the boat can hold up to forty people.

Upon arrival, all kids under twelve will be asked to put on a lifejacket. They provide these, and there is no charge. There is also a food tent available for goodies and snacks before or after your cruise.

Your guide will pick you up at the staging area, and guide you through a walk of not-too-spooky-for-young-kids Halloween graveyards. You will pass through the Halloween gateway, and arrive at the river, where you will board for your cruise. The river is dark, but dimly lit with strings of Halloween lights across the river. See over 100 decorated pumpkins lit up along the edge of the river. Some of them are even carved upside down on purpose so that when you see the reflection in the water, they are right side up! It’s a really fun effect!

The cruise boat has a motor, but to keep with the Halloween ambiance, the guide will pull the boat along a roap strung across the river. You will hear a spooky story, and maybe get a visit from a sneaky pirate!

The cruise takes about 25 minutes, and was the perfect family Halloween activity for kids of all ages.

If Odyssey Dance Theatre's "Thriller" isn't part of your yearly Halloween tradition, it should be. The spooky spectacular combines technical aspects of dance while paying homage to the stars of All Hallows' Eve.

The-zombies-perform-in-odyssey-dance-theaters

Throughout the two-hour program, "Thriller" highlights all the heroes of the season, including Frankenstein's monster and his bride, skeletons, mummies and werewolves. But among the ghouls, you'll find other unlikely heroes of Halloween, such as Bubbles the Clown and the "Giggle Girl," who sings and maniacally laughs her way through songs such as "I Saw Mommy Killing Santa Claus."

Critics agree that Odyssey Dance Theatre is nothing short of spectacular:

"Compelling dance performed to perfection! Young, trim, slim, and athletic...Great fun!" --The Spectrum

"Odyssey's "Thriller"..a delightful "Dance Macabre"....As for humor, there were bucket loads. Laughs abounded during a "Romeo & Juliet" inspired "Frankenstein & Frankenstein" and "Jason Jam," a work that used a lot of percussive dancing, a la "Stomp", that spotlighted three "Friday the 13th" villains dancing with ice picks, machetes and, of all things, chain saws. The whole idea was cool..." Scott Iwasaki, Deseret News.

15 Days to Halloween in Utah - Ogden and Salt Lake City Ghost Tours/Story Tours

Have you ever wondered if your town is haunted? Or where to find out... This will be an adventure to either make you a believer or prove it wrong. See it for yourself!!!

The award winning Ogden and Salt Lake City Ghost Tours was founded by storyteller Kristen Clay in 2002.  Impressed by Utah's rich culture and history, Kristen set out to study it's stories.  As she began interviewing the merchants and residents of Northern Utah, she came across the usual tales of pioneers, immigrants, hardships and survival, but was surprised to hear many bizarre and interesting ghost stories among them.

On your Ghost tour, you will experience a small sampling of these "local legends" gathered during the research of several storytellers.  Some might even tell you they have gotten to know the ghosts personally.... You will embark upon an exciting adventure through Utah's past and back into the present to discover characters who just can't seem to leave this valley, even many years after their deaths.

We do not attempt to prove the existence of ghosts or to explain the paranormal; you will decide whether to believe - or not.  We intend to expand your imagination and present you with a fun evening of rich storytelling and maybe a chill or two.  We hope your experience will inspire you to seek out your own stories and share them.

Nicolas Cage
The LaLaurie Mansion, said to be one of the most haunted houses in New Orleans, was owned by actor Nicolas Cage from 2006 to 2009. This mansion's ghost stories start in the 1830s with the LaLaurie family, who brutally abused slaves in the home for many generations. After the family fled the city, the mansion remained unoccupied for many years, with the few tenants reporting mysterious screams and strange noises. Others claimed that they were strangled in the night by an invisible force, or saw shackled servants roaming the halls.
